Typhoon

From the Coastwatch Vault this story we did in December 1994 on Bill Ewing's classic 30 square metre yacht, Typhoon. Bill migrated from Scotland in the 60's to take up work in a Brisbane shipyard and as a lover of old classic boats and cars, when he saw Typhoon on the market in 1979 he bought her and spent many years refurbishing her back to her original condition. He has sailed and maintained her regularly ever since, but sadly, as he gets older he finds he can no longer do that and Typhoon is on the market to somebody who shares a love of old classic things and will become her custodian and keep her in good shape for years to come. Sailing to Lucinda Bay

A handy guide on sailing from Manly to Lucinda Bay on Moreton Island. It's a good anchorage in winds from SE to NE and is often less crowded than the more popular and nearby Tangalooma.
