Peninsula Coast: Sharp Point to Cape Melville

A weakening trough lies offshore south of Cooktown. A slow moving high pressure centre over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over northern Queensland waters. The high will gradually weaken over the coming days, with an associated weakening of the ridge.
