Cairns Coast: Cape Tribulation to Cardwell

A weakening trough lies offshore south of Cooktown. A slow moving high pressure centre over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over northern Queensland waters. The high will gradually weaken over the coming days, with an associated weakening of the ridge.

Winds Northeast to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, tending southeasterly 10 to 15 knots inshore this afternoon and early evening. Winds dependent on position of trough.
Seas 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres south of Innisfail.
Swell Easterly 1 to 1.5 metres outside the reef, increasing to 1 to 2 metres later in the evening.
Weather Cloudy. 95% chance of showers. Squally thunderstorms possible.
