Synoptic Situation
A large, slow moving high pressure system in the Great Australian Bight extends a strengthening ridge over much of the Queensland east coast, with strong SE winds developing over southern waters during Thursday and persisting into early next week.
Warnings
A strong wind warning has been issued for waters between St Lawrence and Point Danger, including Hervey Bay and Moreton Bay, for Thursday.
Hervey Bay Waters:
A strong wind warning has been issued for Thursday Wednesday until midnight: Wind: E/SE 10/15 knots. Sea: 1 metre. Isolated showers.
Thursday: Wind: SE 10/15 knots at first, increasing to 15/20 knots during the morning and increasing further 20/30 knots during the afternoon. Sea: 1.2 metres, rising to 1.8 metres in the afternoon. Showers, becoming squally in the afternoon.
Friday: Wind: SE 25/33 knots.
Saturday: Wind: SE 25/33 knots.
Capricornia Waters, St Lawrence to Burnett Heads:
A strong wind warning has been issued for Thursday Wednesday until midnight: Wind: E/SE 10/15 knots, reaching 15/20 knots at times. Sea: rising to 1.7 metres. Isolated showers.
Thursday: Wind: SE 20/25 knots, increasing to 25/33 knots during the afternoon. Sea: 2.2 metres in open waters, rising to 3 metres during the afternoon. Swell: SE 2 metres. Showers, becoming squally during the day.
Friday: Wind: SE 25/35 knots.
Saturday: Wind: SE 25/35 knots
