Weather Situation

A large high [1031 hPa] over the Great Australian Bight will move slowly east during the next few days, extending a strengthening ridge over much of Queensland.

Please be aware

Wind gusts can be 40 percent stronger than the averages given

here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height

Warning Summary at issue time

A Strong Wind Warning is current for waters between St

Lawrence and Double Island Point.

Fraser Island Waters, Sandy Cape to Double Island Point:

A Strong Wind Warning is current.

Sunday until midnight: Winds: South to southeasterly 25 to 30 knots. Seas: 3 metres. Swell: South to southeasterly 2 to 3 metres. Scattered showers.

Monday: Winds: South to southeasterly 25 to 30 knots. Seas: 3 metres. Swell: South to southeasterly 2 to 2.5 metres. Scattered showers.

Tuesday: Winds: Southeasterly 25 to 30 knots.

Wednesday: Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots in the morning.

Hervey Bay Waters:

A Strong Wind Warning has been issued for Monday.

Sunday until midnight: Winds: South to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1.8 metres in the northern bay. Isolated showers.

Monday: Winds: South to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots at times in the afternoon and evening. Seas: 1.8 to 2.2 metres in the northern bay. Isolated showers.

Tuesday: Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots at times.

Wednesday: Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots in the morning.
