Weather Situation

A weak ridge extends along the southern Queensland coast. A low lies over the northwestern Coral Sea while another low lies to the south of New Caledonia. The New Caledonia system will move southwestwards into the northern Tasman Sea during the outlook period, extending a S'ly wind flow on to the southern Queensland coast.

Wind gusts can be 40 percent stronger than the averages given

here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height

Fraser Island Waters, Sandy Cape to Double Island Point:

Saturday until midnight: Winds: S to SE 10 to 15 knots. Seas: 1.2 metres. Swell: E'ly 2 to 2.5 metres. Isolated showers.

Sunday: Winds: S to SE 10 to 15 knots. Seas: 1.2 to 1.7 metres. Swell: E'ly 2.5 to 3 metres. Isolated showers.

Monday: Winds: SW to SE 5 to 10 knots, tending SE to NE 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon.

Tuesday: Winds: SW to SE 5 to 10 knots, tending S to SE 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon.

Hervey Bay Waters:

Saturday until midnight: Winds: E to SE 10 to 15 knots. Seas: to 1 metre. Isolated showers.

Sunday: Winds: S to SE 10 to 15 knots, tending E to SE 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Seas: to 1 metre.

Monday: Winds: SW to SE 5 to 10 knots, tending N to NE 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon.

Tuesday: Winds: SW to SE 5 to 10 knots, tending E to SE 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon.
