Synoptic Situation
A large, slow moving high pressure system in the Great Australian Bight extends a strengthening ridge over much of the Queensland east coast, with strong SE winds developing over southern waters during Thursday and persisting into early next week.
Warnings
A strong wind warning has been issued for waters between St Lawrence and Point Danger, including Hervey Bay and Moreton Bay, for Thursday.
Fraser Island Offshore Waters, Sandy Cape to Double Island Point:
A strong wind warning has been issued for Thursday Wednesday until midnight: Wind: SE/NE 10/15 knots. Sea: 1.2 metres. Swell: E/SE 1.5 metres. Isolated showers.
Thursday: Wind: S/SE 20/25 knots, increasing to 25/33 knots during the day. Sea: 2 to 3 metres. Swell: E/SE 2 metres, tending S/SE and rising to 2.5 metres from the south later in the day. Showers, becoming squally.
Friday: Wind: SE 25/35 knots.
Saturday: Wind: SE 25/33 knots.
