Gale Warning 020 issued by Nadi at 040115UTC for an area within 12S160E to 14S173E to 17S173E to 17S160E to 12S160E.
PART 2 SITUATION At 040000UTC. The monsoon trough extended from 19S146E to a low [990hPa] near 17.3S149.9E to 20S153E to 17S158E to 19S164E to 19S170E. The trough is expected near 19S147E to a low forecast near 17.4S151.1E to 20S155E to 20S170E at 041100UTC. The low is forecast to be near 17.4S152.8E at 042300UTC with the monsoon trough remaining near stationary. A second low [992hPa] near 29S164E is moving south-southwest, forecast near 32S162E at 042300UTC.
PART 3 FORECAST Within Brisbane Gale Warning Area. W to NW winds 35 to 45 knots. Very rough to high seas. Moderate to heavy confused swells. Rain areas, scattered showers and squally thunderstorms. Within Nadi Gale Warning Area. W to NW winds up to 35 knots. Area of gales slow moving. Very rough seas. Moderate to heavy confused swells. Rain areas, scattered showers and squally thunderstorms. Northeast of a line 07S148E to 11S170E. N to NE winds 10 to 20 knots with slight to moderate seas, reaching N to NW 15 to 25 knots with moderate to rough seas in the south. Low to moderate N to NE swells. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere north of monsoon trough. W to NW winds 25 to 33 knots, possibly stronger at times south of 10S, east of 147E and west of 160E. Very rough seas. Moderate N to NE swells. Rain areas, scattered showers and thunderstorms with squalls. South of monsoon trough and east of 160E. NW to NE 10 to 20 knots, reaching 15 to 25 knots in far southeast. Moderate to rough seas and moderate E to SE swells. Isolated showers with isolated thunderstorms near trough. Elsewhere south of monsoon trough. Mostly SW to SE winds 10 to 20 knots with moderate seas. SE winds reaching 15 to 25 knots west of 155E and north of 22S with moderate to rough seas. M E to SE swells.
