A tropical low [990 hPa] lies over the northwest Coral Sea approximately 250 nm east of Cairns and is moving east 5 knots. The low will continue to move east southeast away from the Queensland coast during the outlook period.

Saturday until midnight: Winds: E to SE 20 to 25 knots,
reaching 25 to 30 knots north of Creal Reef. Seas: 2 to 3 metres in the
Capricorn Channel. Swell: SE to NE 2 metres in the Capricorn Channel. Scattered
showers, increasing to rain areas and thunderstorms in the far north.
Sunday: Winds: North of Creal Reef: S to SE 25 to 30
knots, decreasing to 20 to 25 knots during the morning and decreasing further to
15 to 20 knots during the afternoon. South of Creal Reef: SE 20 to 25 knots,
decreasing to 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon. Winds dependent on movement
and development of tropical low. Seas: 2.2 metres in the Capricorn Channel,
decreasing to 1.7 metres during the afternoon. Swell: SE to NE 2 metres in the
Capricorn Channel. Isolated showers. Early rain areas and thunderstorms in the
far north and east.
Monday: Winds: SW to SE 10 to 15 knots, tending NW to NE 10
to 15 knots over western parts during the afternoon.
Tuesday: Winds: Light and variable 5 to 10 knots.
